Minerals:

North American Soils have become increasingly depleted of key minerals.
nessecary to produce healthy nutritious food.

Minerals are derived from rocks, which erode into soil, are then taken up by plants, which are then eaten by animals and humans. The problem with this cycle is food supply and farming practices in North America during the modern era (1900’s), has caused mineral deficiencies in our soils. These deficiencies were noted in the early 1930’s after the advent of chemical fertilizers. These fertilizers only replaced three of the twenty major minerals important to health. Continuance of these farming practices coupled with reduction in farmland, have depleted the nutrients contained in soil. Minerals work side-by-side with vitamins and are essential to life. Only eating to RDA levels mean you are on the verge of disease and optimal levels should be consumed daily, thus the need for supplementation.

Mineral Beneficial Effects

Boron Needed for healthy bones and to build muscle mass; necessary in preventing post menopausal osteoporosis; aids calcium and magnesium metabolism; reduces calcium loss

Calcium Vital for strong bones, teeth and healthy gums; important for regular heartbeat and nerve transmission; helps muscles contract-prevents cramping; promotes normal blood pressure and blood clotting; helps in preventing colon cancer and aids in hormonal functions

Chlorine Stimulates production of hydrochloric acid; keeps joints and tendons agile; along with sodium it helps maintain acid-base balance of the body

Chromium Helps maintain blood sugar levels; promotes fat loss; helpful for acne; reduces blood cholesterol and arterial plaque; important for energy production; inhibits cholesterol formation in the liver

Cobalt Necessary for hemoglobin formation; enzyme activator; supports immune function; needed for synthesis of B12

Iodine Important for proper functioning of thyroid gland - prevents goiters; metabolizes excess fat; important in mental development; promotes growth

Iron Important component in blood-oxygen transport and in the oxygenation of red blood cells; needed for production of hemoglobin; important for healthy immune function

Magnesium Necessary for proper function of nerves and muscles; assists in calcium and potassium uptake; muscle relaxant; reduces incidence of asthma, angina, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney stones and osteoporosis

Manganese Required for glucose metabolism; used in energy production and reproduction; essential for the central nervous system and immune system; used for treating sprains, inflammation, epilepsy and diabetes

Molybdenum Needed for nitrogen metabolism; involved in alcohol detoxification; reduces incidence of esophageal cancer and tooth decay; prevents sexual impotence in men

Phosphorous Strengthens bones and teeth; needed for storage/release of energy; utilized in kidney and nerve functions; stimulates muscle contraction; healthy body balance 2 parts calcium to 1 part phosphorous

Potassium Balance fluid in cells; needed for proper adrenal and kidney function; involved in nerve transmission to heart; maintains normal pH; regulates blood pressure

Selenium Antioxidant; anti-cancer properties; protects immune system; protects against heart disease, cancer, cataracts and stroke; helps slow the aging process

Silicon Necessary for healthy bones, connective tissue, nails, skin and hair; helps prevent cardiovascular disease; slows the aging process
