Premenstrual Syndrome PMS

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a disorder that affects menstruating women 1-2 weeks before the menstrual cycle begins. Symptoms can include depression, cramps, headaches, mood swings and insomnia. One of the causes of PMS is a hormone imbalance – excessive estrogen levels and inadequate progesterone levels. Specific nutrient deficiencies have been linked to particular symptoms being exhibited, such as low magnesium levels leading to menstrual cramps. Heavy bleeding can lead to losses of iron, therefore this mineral needs to be replaced in the diet. Effective vitamin therapy, exercise and proper diet can alleviate symptoms by balancing hormone levels. Supplements containing natural plant estrogens and liver support ingredients are beneficial.
