Menopause

Menopause, also referred to as “the change of life”, is the point at which women stop ovulating. Although estrogen levels drop during this period, the hormone does not disappear. The endocrine glands take over in the production of estrogen and other hormones to maintain proper bodily functions. Common symptoms associated with estrogen deficiency include hot flashes, dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath, heart palpitations and depression. As well, risk for osteoporosis increases during this phase of life. Lack of exercise, poor dietary habits and stress can exacerbate the symptoms associated with menopause. Nutritional supplements that promote hormone balance are beneficial for menopause, perhaps even alleviate most symptoms.
